'What Parents Say'
Parent Testimonials
“By attending the weekly sessions my confidence had grown immensely. I now feel that I do know my child best and what his capabilities are and the exercises and therapy that I do with J under the guidance of School for Parents Staff means that J's progress has astounded his paediatrician. Reports from J's physio are also pleasing “
“They offer a wide variety of sensory stimulation and conductive education during the session which both parent and child take part and we both learn and achieve together. This helps us understand our child’s disability, they assess the children regularly so that they can move on to the next stage in their development – I now have a second child that attends School for Parents and look forward to her progress”
“My daughter attended School for Parents for three and a half years when we started we as a family were struggling to come to terms with her severe disabilities. Looking back she now uses so many of the skills we learnt together at School for Parents. She is able to sit independently, assist with dressing (this makes life so much easier as she gets bigger) she is able to move around and change positions and many more self help skills.
“G has severe Cerebral Palsy and needs 24 hour care and assistance with everything he does. It was a great relief to find somewhere where we could meet others in similar situations and to learn of different exercises to help G. Although School for Parents sessions were predominantly to help G learn more awareness of his own ability, I found the contact with other parents extremely beneficial and came away most weeks with vital information to help better G's quality of life”
“Sessions would excite him – to him it was fun, it was play, not boring and often found he would do things at the school which he wouldn’t do at home. Over the years of attending School for Parents he improved in his physical development and in his overall confidence – less shy ,more vocal “.
“ E was diagnosed with Left Hemiplegia it was difficult for my wife and I to come to terms with and could not at that time comprehend what support our daughter would receive. After being made aware of the School for Parents service, E started to attend weekly sessions, these sessions have not only given Emuch needed development as well as overcoming her personal phobias, but they also have given my wife and I valuable support too” .
