WHO ARE WE?
The Dame Vera Lynn Trust School for Parents Suffolk is an independent pre-school for children who have difficulties with movement and co-ordination. The children have a wide range of conditions, including Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Infantile Spasms, Chromosomal abnormalities and Autism, and many have no diagnosis.
Background:
The School was started in April 2000 by Scope and known as Suffolk School for Parents. However, Scope withdrew in 2002 and we then registered as a charity in our own right in March 2002. In October 2010 we merged with the Dame Vera Lynn Trust who are based in Billingshurst, West Sussex and we are now known as The Dame Vera Lynn Trust School for Parents Suffolk.
Our Team:
Each member of our team brings their own unique skill set to the groups. As well as a variety of Early Years qualifications, including Safeguarding Children, First Aid and Food Hygiene, staff have all undertaken specialised Conductive Education training. They have extensive knowledge of motor learning difficulties and how these affect development, and can offer practical solutions to everyday difficulties. All members of staff are Makaton trained. We have an excellent relationship with other professionals and can use these contacts to offer help and support where needed.
The current staff comprises of:
Alison Stonham - Head of Early Years
Senior Team Leader - Yvette Gibbons
Team Members - Lindsay Sparke and Angela Cooke
