 AIDAN'S STORY

In memory of Aidan who passed away on 1st March 2014, aged 19 months, read his story below written by his Dad, and the fundraising activities that are taking place this year to support our charity.

Aidan's uncle, Stephen, and family friend, Stuart Thompson, are both completing personal challenges this year in memory of Aidan to raise funds for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust.

Stephen completed this challenge at the Stockholm Marathon on 31st May, achieving a personal best by almost 11 minutes and to date has raised an incredible. £3,777.94!  Many, many congratulations to Stephen on your fantastic achievements and we all hope you are now having a well-deserved rest!  This was Stephen's fourth marathon and he was been inspired by how his brave little nephew fought Mitochondrial disease , never giving up and endearing himself to all those that knew him.

Family friend, Stuart Thompson took part in a 6 day, 96 mile, expedition to the West Highland Way in July to raise funds in memory of Aidan.  Following the walk Stuart said "the sense of achievement was phenomenal and it was a privilege to do this walk both for charity and the Pond family".  Stuart, you are a star!  Click below to read Stuart's account of his journey.
