If you are an individual, do look at our Diary of Events that we organise to see if there is one you would like to join us at. You might like to undertake a sporting challenge such as the Brighton Marathon next year.  Perhaps you have always wanted to skydive out of an aeroplane so why not take part in our next sponsored Skydive or you might like to get a few friends together and organise an event of your own.

The easiest way to get your friends and family to sponsor you is to set-up your own page on Just Giving and link this to the event you are taking part in.   Organised Events for West Sussex and Suffolk currently are on the Just Giving site and please contact the trust office if you require any help in setting-up your Just Giving page.

The support we are receiving from parents and grandparents at The School for Parents is just growing and growing.  We have never had so many visitors to our office from people coming up with innovative ideas to fundraise for us and we are absolutely thrilled because we need all the help we can get!  Please keep an eye on the newsletters that come out three times a year and the diary of events on the website because it's amazing
how someone else's ideas can spark off one of your own.  Please DO get in touch with Rosie or Sara if you just want to have a chat about something - well anything really!

On 29th October 2010 we had an amazing Firewalk event  held at the Fox Inn in Rudgwick West Sussex where over £7000 was raised for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust by 36 people walking over hot coals.  After two hours of training and mental preparation, each participant took on the challenge of walking 20ft over 800 degree burning hot coals.  It was a truly celebratory evening with a packed Fox Inn and despite the rain did not deter our 36 walkers who were 'fired up' for the challenge.  We would like to say a huge thanks to Erika and Simon Godsland and the local community for their support and for such a lovely evening.

On Wednesday 16th February 2011 Suffolk held their first Firewalk event at Jimmy's Farm in Wherstead, Ipswich.  They managed to raise over £9000.  More than 50 friends, family and spectators joined together to cheer the firewalkers on and many of those taking part enjoyed it so much they went back for a second turn!  Everyone was elated afterwards and carried on enjoying the spirit of the event in the restaurant with much from local ban Fre Shots.  They also held another sponsored Halloween firewalk on Monday 31st October, again at Jimmy's Farm which was a truly spooky and interesting night with witches, ghosts and ghouls walking the hot coals.  See our Diary of Events for a full write up with pictures from the evening.
