We are keen to recruit a Part-Time Data Entry Volunteer to support the fundraising team based at the Trust Office. We are looking for an individual who is IT literate with experience of using databases who can join the team one day a week/fortnight.
We also have a second Data Entry Volunteer role for the summer months based at the Trust Office. This position may appeal to students looking to gain experience within an office environment. If you are IT literate with experience of using databases we would love to hear from you.
4. Charity Shop Volunteers
Days and times to be discussed.
We currently have a number of exciting opportunities for volunteers to join our flagship charity shop in Southwater, Horsham. Working alongside the Manager and other volunteers your duties may include: greeting customers, organising and sorting through donated stock, stock rotation and processing sales using a till.
PLEASE CONTACT [email protected] or call 01403 780444 if you are interested in any of the above roles or need any further information.
Volunteers come in all shapes and guises and it’s amazing what they can do when gently persuaded to!
We truly value any help we can get in the office counting money, data inputting, wrapping parcels; writing to companies for raffle prizes; we rely enormously on people helping distribute collection boxes out in the community; driving; taking minutes; running a bar; store collections; helping out before, during and clearing up after, events. This can involve absolutely anything from registering participants to drumming at the Firewalk!
Volunteers are our life blood and with a small number of employees at the Dame Vera Lynn Trust, we welcome every single one.
There is nothing too small or too large you can volunteer to help us with . After all, our Trustees are all volunteers!
We are also very lucky to receive the support of companies who volunteer for us in various ways such as painting buildings, gardening, station collections and helping sell our Christmas cards. If you are a company or work for an organisation and think your staff would be interested in volunteering, please get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you.

AMERICAN EXPRESS
American Express Cross Network Team Building day at
The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Billingshurst
On a glorious afternoon in May, 20 volunteers from American Express set about a team building challenge to build 4 tepees large enough to accommodate 2 wheelchairs in the stunning woodland attached to the School for Parents for use by all the pupils on site.
The woodland project provides an outside resource for the children to study including bird feeding stations, insect hotels and a teaching area as well as planned management of the woodland to the benefit of all.
The day enabled the networks to get to know each other and included representatives from WIN, Pride, DAN, GAIN, HOLA and Parent and Carers networks. With superb team work from everyone, the result was 4 beautifully constructed individually designed tepees which are now being fully utilised every day by not only our own pupils but from visiting local and special schools.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who took part and we certainly enjoyed celebrating their hard work with well earned refreshments at the end of the day.
We were delighted to have the support of local HSBC Branches in the Worthing/Brighton Area and Horsham and Crawley selling our Charity Christmas cards this year. They also kindly offered to volunteer at the Charity Card shop in Horsham Museum where we sold our Christmas cards for the first time.
Matt Boardman paid a visit to the School for Parents in West Sussex to see for himself the wonderful service that is provided to our families and how the money raised from the sale of Christmas cards will help towards raising the funds required to ensure that this vital and much needed service can continue. The sale of cards amounted to over £550 and we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to HSBC for all their support and particularly to Matt and Sheridan for making this possible.
