HORSHAM 100
Tanbridge House School in Horsham hosted the launch of an exciting new project ‘Horsham 100’ on Friday 13th May 2011 aiming to raise £100,000 for The Dame Vera Lynn Trust and which was attended by Dame Vera Lynn.
The scheme organised by Horsham’s Tanbridge House School and PMW Communications in Billinghurst is a campaign is designed to raise £100,000 by inviting local businesses in the Horsham area to work together to raise funds by inviting them to come up with creative fundraising ideas that their staff and business associates will be happy to sponsor them for.
Some of the companies who have already helped us include Sainsbury’s, Foundry Press, Slinfold and Cranleigh Golf and Country Clubs, The Printed Word, Horsham Karate, Swan Walk, Courtney Green, Covers Timbers, Haldi Restaurant and PMW Communications. Some of the challenges that have taken place include skydiving, marathon swimming events and epic walking challenges. The students from Tanbridge School took part in a 16 mile school walk in July with all the proceeds going towards Horsham 100. They collected over £8000 in sponsorship money so a huge 'Well Done' to you all.
On Sunday 4th September 2011 Horsham had its first 'Festival of Sound' with over 32 local bands playing at six venues across Horsham town centre as part of the Horsham 100 campaign. Peter Sutton and his team from PMW Communications arranged a bucket collection and managed to collect £1255.12. All the bands played for free and we would like to thank them and the organisers for all their help and support. Also a big thank you to everyone who came along and donated.
A massive WELL DONE to the 37 participants who took part in the 100k walk on the weekend 17th/18th September 2011 as part of the HORSHAM 100 campaign to raise funds for the trust. We are extremely proud of you all and hope that there are not too many blisters after such a gruelling experience. A huge thank you goes to Peter Sutton and his team at PMW for organising the event and all the scouts who helped by providing breakfast and transporting people on the mini-bus. It was an incredible achievement and here are just a few photos of everyone at the start of their walk.
We have also received a cheque for £1020 from the Haldi Restaurant in Southwater near Horsham who created a special Horsham 100 chicken curry dish for us which has been selling really well. We would like to thank Jay and his team at Haldi and all their customers for their support in helping us to raise such a tremendous amount of money.

The Horsham 100 Club teamed up with West Sussex County Times
'Horsham is Great' campaign to launch the
'Song for Horsham' competition in April asking all budding songwriters, authors and poets to write an anthem for the town and district. Kaytie Harding and her group 'Voice From The Coalshed' were also involved to help with the competition as part of the choir to accompany the anthem. Ben Chambers from Horsham beat off strong competition in the final judging to become the winner with his song entitled 'Horsham Town'. The Song was sung for the first time at the bandstand in the Carfax in Horsham on Saturday 26th May with the volunteer choir led by Kaytie Harding. Local businesses Courtney Green and Covers Timbers sponsored the event and all additional monies were raised through sponsorship from individual members of the public who took part in the choir. A BIG thank you to everyone who supported the event and helped raised money in support of the 'Horsham 100' campaign.
On Monday 25th June, one year after the campaign was launched, Horsham 100 reconvened for a lunch to hand over the proceeds of their endeavours. At this special lunch, held at Tanbridge House School, Peter Sutton, Managing Director of PMW and Jules White, Headmaster at Tanbridge, presented Dame Vera Lynn with a cheque for £82,000 for the Trust. They also pledged to continue the fundraising until the £100,000 total has been achieved. Peter Sutton will be repeating PMW'S sponsored walk from last year to give a final push to help raise the remaining £18,000. We would like to thank everyone for their superb efforts in raising such a large amount of money.
