HISTORY
The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy was set up in 2001 when the national charity Scope announced that it would be unable to continue funding the School for Parents at Ingfield Manor, West Sussex.
Dame Vera Lynn, along with several of her friends and associates, launched the 'Bluebird Appeal'. With impetus from substantial local press support, and encouraged by many contributions from the families of present and past pupils of the School for Parents, friends, local companies, societies and other individuals, enough money was raised for the service to continue.
In October 2010 we were able to expand our services to combine with the School for Parents based in Sproughton, Ipswich where for 4 years we were able to provide a School for Parents service to over 50 families. It was with great regret and sadness that we closed the school in February 2015. The decision was based purely on financial grounds, we faced many difficulties including the economic recession, local fundraising challenges, our rural location and with no statutory funding available we have been unable to meet the required targets.
We continue to provide our service at West Sussex to over 50 families. Our aim is to be able to provide Conductive Education to families with young children affected by cerebral palsy and associated motor learning difficulties and to ensure everyone is made aware of the existence of our service. We receive no statutory funding from the Government.
